vegan winter fruit dessert - stuffed spiced apples

vegan winter fruit dessert – stuffed spiced apples

Why I like warm vegan winter fruit dessert

I like warm winter fruit desserts on cold winter nights. There is nothing better to warm you from the inside than a warm vegan winter fruit dessert preferably sitting in front of a cracking fire. I don’t know what winter is like where you live, but here in Ireland winter seems to want to linger a bit longer these day giving us plenty of cold frosty nights.

For this vegan dessert I cored some apples and stuffed them with a mix of dried fruit and spices. I added some cold pressed rapeseed oil and brown sugar to the mix. You can substitute both by using a liquid sweeter like honey or a fruit concentrate to bind the fruit mix together for stuffing. With those adaptations you could make this dessert without any added sugar just using the sweetness of the juice concentrate and the fruit. read more

Anti-Inflammatory Dessert

Warm Winter Fruit Compote – Anti-Inflammatory Dessert

Anti-Inflammatory Dessert

This fruit compote is both sugar-free and contains no added fat. All the sweetness comes from the sugar that is naturally contained in the fruit and the fruit juice that are in the ingredients to make this dessert. For a dessert to be in line with the health recommendation set down by health authorities such as the Harvard School of Medicine, they need to be fat free and contain little or no sugar. For more information on Anti-inflammatory Dessert cooking click on this link. It is one of the best Anti-Inflammatory Dessert Recipes and I make this at least once a fortnight during the winter months. Dried fruit is a great natural sweetener if you want to avoid using refined sugar. The natural sweetness of the fruit can be untapped really well if you heat the fruit or the dishes you want to prepare with the fruit. Try chopping up some died fruit and add it to your oat flakes when making your porridge in the morning. read more

Best Candied Almonds Recipe

Candied Almonds are probably one of the yummiest snacks available on any German Christmas Market. If you’ve ever had the good fortune to visit one of these old, traditional markets you will know what I’m talking about. Just the smell of the sweet, freshly roasted nuts makes my mouth water. I am nearly ashamed to say that it took me until very recently to try to make these myself. I love snacking on nuts. I used to really enjoy nut brittle until I broke a bit off one of my molars! Thankfully my dentist was able to fix it within a couple of days. Still, ever since then I’ve since given the nut brittle a wide berth. read more

Non Dairy Vegan Festive Dessert

Apple Syllabub – Non Dairy Vegan Festive Dessert

Non Dairy Vegan Festive Dessert – Apple and Almond Syllabub

A great non dairy vegan festive dessert is this apple and almond syllabub. It’s perfect for the festive season when there is an abundance if apples around especially if you are lucky enough to have a garden. But apples can be easily purchased in any local shop too. Slightly tart, sour apples like cooking apples are especially suitable for this recipe because they burst with flavour and hold on to that apple favour through the cooking process.

As this dessert also looks great and tastes divine and it is perfect if you are dinning with family and or friends around Thanksgiving, Christmas or for other a special occasions. The recipe uses yoghurt, apples and almonds. It is really easy to make, just follow the instructions below. I like to cook the apples with a little bit of apple cider or white wine if I’m stuck but you can obviously substitute that with a non-alcoholic beverage like apple juice. read more

Sugar-Free Gluten-Free Granola

Sugar-Free Gluten-Free Granola

Why Make your Own Sugar Free and Gluten Free Granola?

Granola is usually readily available to buy in most supermarkets. You pay a premium and it might be harder to get if you want Sugar-Free Gluten-Free Granola. To get granola that doesn’t contain fats that are usually added in the manufacturing process you most likely have to make your own. Granola is surprisingly easy to make though. And if you like crunchy granola all you have to do is bake your flakes in the oven for 15 minutes and then add it to your mix of seeds, dried fruit and nuts. In most recipes for home made granola the flakes are toasted with the use of some kind of vegetable oil to either bind the flakes together or to avoid them from sticking to the baking sheet. This can be avoided by using a liquid sweetener like honey. In order to keep your flakes from sticking instead of using oil, you can use a non-stick material to line the baking sheet. i tend to use a reusable teflon sheet. You can also use paper baking sheets or a non-stick baking sheet made from silicon or something similar. Either way, there is no need to use oil, This granola recipe is perfect for people who follow anti-inflammatory diet or a special MS diet. read more
